Herostratus (July 21 356 a.) was an Ephesus shepper who set on fire the Temple of ARTEMIS (goddess Diana) considered one of the seven wonders of the world. The confession of the purpose of his crime that it was taken under the torment of torture its sole purpose was to achieve fame at any price.
.Thích Quảng Đức (1897 – 11 June 1963, born Lâm Văn Túc), was a Vietnamese Mahayana Buddhist monk who burned himself to death at a busy Saigon road intersection on 11 June 1963, protesting the persecution of Buddhists by the South Vietnamese government led by Ngô Đình Diệm.


Ai Weiwei, a Chinese dissident artist who helped make his name smashing a valuable vase in the name of art. 

Maximo Caminero, 51, a Miami-based artist, dropped a vase that was part of Ai Weiwei’s According to What? currently at the Perez Art Museum Miami. The shattered item was one of 16 vases that was part of “Colored Vases” (2006–12), which was created by  Ai Weiwei from what are believed to be ancient Chinese vases. Caminero said he smashed the vase to protest the institution's lack of displays of local artists.

Ai Weiweisaid in an interview in Beijing: 
“Damaging other people's property or disturbing a public program doesn't really support his cause".
